The Dudognon family is located in Lignères-Sonneville, a village among the most prestigious but few villages of the Grande Champagne of Cognac, classified Premier Cru of the delimited appellation area of the Region of Cognac. The vineyard property which is called Le Davore occupied by this family since 1776 is coiled a little away from the village while the vineyard in its majority is on a very limestone hillock, a guarantee of very high quality for the wines harvested and distilled on this very recognized terroir.
The vineyard extends over a dozen hectares harvested with care and in stages according to the grape varieties used and their state of ripeness at the time of harvest: the Ugni Blanc in majority, Folle Blanche and Montils.
The harvested wines will be distilled and the Cognacs will then age for several years and for some including the oldest for more than 75 years.
One of the Cognacs often rewarded for their qualities and sure values:
Golden Medal in 1898, then in 1990 renewed in 1998, that is to say a century later.
It is a blended cognac coming exclusively from the family's vineyard with eaux-de-vie older than the minimum age of 4 years required by law.
The robe is slightly golden and very bright.
On the nose, very nice sensations of white flowers, recently mown summer grass with a light undergrowth finish.
In mouth fine presences of vanilla and wood.
A cognac par excellence as a neat aperitif on ice or with a tonic like schweppes.
