Cognac Normandin-Mercier, is an old eighteenth century dwelling nestled in the Saintonge countryside surrounded by cellars where the treasures of this House dating from the Second French Empire under Napoléon III sleep.
Created in 1872, today it is a fifth generation that watches over this long-standing heritage, hidden not far from La Rochelle, "the rebel city" with its headquarters by Louis XIII and Richelieu, a port at the origin of the first shipments of wines and then later in the seventeenth of brandies distilled in its hinterland named Cognac from the middle of the nineteenth century.
This is where Premiers Grands Crus, true to its Quality Charter, has unearthed this gem of Cognac.
It is a Cognac made from a blend of very old Cognac eaux-de-vie coming exclusively from the Premier Cru Classé of the Cognac region: the Grande Champagne.
It is a Grande Champagne cognac exclusively aged in red barrels.
The color is gold with amber reflections.
The nose is dominated by dried fruits such as hazelnut and almond, followed by candied fruits and hints of citrus, cinnamon and vanilla spiced with hints of lightly smoked honey, dry herbs and light tobacco. An aromatic palette of great breadth.
In the mouth: long and ample with a beautiful roundness on nuances mixed with dried fruits, spices, coffee and chocolate. A magnificent complexity.
Will go perfectly well with a chocolate dessert and a pure Arabica coffee and with a cigar of your choice with a renowned ring.
