Martell: The oldest of the important houses of Cognac was created in 1715 by Jean Martell, a native of the island of Jersey who was then barely 20 years old and attracted by the already worldwide reputation of Charente brandies.
Today, Martell is the 2nd worldwide brand of Cognac. Master of all its production, from distillation to bottling through blending and aging, it has chosen to produce Cognacs from the 4 main appellations of the region and to make a special place for Borderies, 3rd growth in the hierarchy of Cognac, renowned for its elegance.
This know-how combined with the oak barrels in which they age for many years, gives rise to Cognacs of extreme finesse, floral and fragrant, preciously preserved in bottles with very elegant lines that make them jewels of Cognac.
A very elegant blend of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne (the Premier and Deuxième Cru of the Cognac delimited region) harmoniously associated with the Troisième cru of the Cognac les Borderies Region, all aged in French oak barrels between 10 and 30 years.
La robe is golden amber with hints of St Domingue mahogany and red copper.
The first attack the nose is spicy on notes of black pepper with a touch of coriander mixed with subtle fragrances of white flowers. The second attack: fine fragrances of fig, walnut and sandalwood.
The palate is velvety on touches of fig, walnut, musk, leather and blond tobacco with a very mocha finish.
