Martell: The oldest of the important houses of Cognac was created in 1715 by Jean Martell, a native of the island of Jersey who was then barely 20 years old and attracted by the already worldwide reputation of Charente brandies.
Today, Martell is the 2nd worldwide brand of Cognac. Master of all its production, from distillation to bottling through blending and aging, it has chosen to produce Cognacs from the 4 main appellations of the region and to make a special place for Borderies, 3rd growth in the hierarchy of Cognac, renowned for its elegance.
This know-how combined with the oak barrels in which they age for many years, gives rise to Cognacs of extreme finesse, floral and fragrant, preciously preserved in bottles with very elegant lines that make them jewels of Cognac.
This is a blend of Cognacs from several crus in the delimited region of Cognac. The blend was aged in "roux" barrels, i.e. several decades old. These casks are fine-grained to obtain the best vanilla tannins after several millimeters of high-fire toasting performed at the cooperage.
La robe is copper-colored with bright gold highlights.
On the nose and palate, a lovely attack of candied fruits such as mirabelle plum, Reine Claude, Carpentras pink apricot, fig, cinnamon, Virginia blond tobacco with a long, velvety, very round finish on vanilla mocha and chocolate.
Would be great as an aperitif on the rocks or as a long drink with Perrier and a slice of lemon or with citrus Schweppes. Would also be suitable as an indispensable component in cocktails.
