Grosperrin

The Cognac Grosperrin is a name that resonates with excellence and tradition in the world of Cognac. This family-owned company, founded by Jean Grosperrin, is renowned for its commitment to craftsmanship and the exceptional quality of its Cognacs. With a history that dates back over two centuries, Cognac Grosperrin is the fruit of a passion passed down from generation to generation.

The story of the Grosperrin family begins in the early 19th century, when Jean Grosperrin, a wine merchant, began producing and trading Cognac. Since then, the family has developed a unique expertise in selecting exceptional Cognacs from the region's finest Domaines.

What sets Cognac Grosperrin apart is its resolute focus on quality and authenticity. Unlike the big Cognac houses that produce blends, Grosperrin focuses on buying and maturing Cognacs from small, artisanal distilleries. These Cognacs are aged in oak casks in the traditional cellars of the Cognac region, where the mild, oceanic climate plays an essential role in the maturation process.

The terroir of the Cognac region is a key element in the quality of Cognacs Grosperrin. The vineyards lie on limestone soils, which give the grapes a unique mineral richness. What's more, the mild climate, tempered by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, favors slow, steady ripening of the grapes, enabling the development of complex aromas of great finesse.

Description Grosperrin N°90 Brut de fût.

It is a blended cognac coming exclusively from the Grande Champagne, classified as Premier Cru de Cognac, placed at the top of the qualitative hierarchy of the 6 Terroirs of Cognac: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bons Bois and Bois éloignés (the latter being the furthest from the heart of the delimited Cognac region).

This cognac comes from a small village called Verrières, nestled in the heart of the Grande Champagne.

It is one of the small terroirs of this tiny area known for its very calcareous soils, an essential element to achieve the quality of the grapes and the wines which, after distillation and aging in French oak barrels, will give exceptional qualities.

The color is amber with some bright reflections of Cuban mahogany.

In the nose, very nice sensations of white spring flowers like cherry blossom, pear or apple tree, followed by freshly cut grass scents like alfalfa, sainfoin, followed by some hints of Virginia blond tobacco, musk and leather, to finish with a nice length of undergrowth.

In the mouth: a remarkable alliance of candied fruits such as ente plum with elegant hints of mirabelle plum, apricot, and fig. The final is powerful and very long, mixing, in perfect balance, the olfactory and the gustatory.

The bottles will be kept upright, stored in a cellar away from light and noise with an optimal hygrometric degree of about 70%.

Food pairing : magnificent as a long drink with a citrus schweppes, splendid with a perrier on ice cubes.

It will also go very well with a chocolate fondant and a coffee from Brazil or Ethiopia, revealed by a Monte Cristo or a Cohiba.
