Plantevigne House-Dubosquet, located not far from Saintes in the heart of this deep Saintonge, a Roman city with limestone soils where the Romans planted their first vines in Gaul at the very beginning of our era. It could have become the capital of Cognac, but Saintes, with its Roman-era arena and Arc de Triomphe, had to take a back seat to its rival Cognac, which later gave its name to France's most famous brandy in the late 19th century.
The house-Plantevigne-Dubosquet is today run by a 14th generation of this very old family from the Cognac region and whose roots, according to French national archives, go back to 1640.
This house produces Cognacs Grande Champagne, classified Premier Cru of Cognac.
Despite a marked drought, the months of August and September saw beneficial rainfall which favored the ripening of the grapes on the chalky slopes of Grande Champagne Premier Cru de Cognac to give very perfumed wines whose concentrated fragrances can be found 30 years later.
The robe is amber and brilliant.
In the nose as in the mouth, a very great length on fragrances of white flowers such as spring hawthorn, linden, pear, cherry and undergrowth in the first attack.
