Navarre Cravache d'Or Cognac Grande Champagne

Availability: In stock

A 20-year-old Cognac, naturally reduced to retain all of its benefits.

- +

A Grande Champagne cognac, classified Premier Cru of the delimited Cognac region.

The grapes and then the wines were distilled about twenty years ago in a small 1000 liter still, heated over an open fire with wood, a method rarely used nowadays but which gives very supple cognacs, very round in the mouth. The cognac has aged in small French oak barrels.

Light amber color.

On the nose and on the palate: white and gray pepper spices, musk, nutmeg with a very structured finish.

Size : 700ml
Alcohol Degree : 45%
Appellation : Cognac Grande Champagne Premier Cru

The Navarre family has been living in Angoumois since the 14th century. The current property was bought by Pierre Navarre (1775-1827) in 1811 who was the owner and merchant there.

It was his grandson who built the current residence located on the banks of the Charente, a strategic location because it was well chosen to be able to load in the hold and on the barge deck (flat-bottomed boat) the wines harvested on the neighboring hillsides and the eaux-de-vie around the middle of the 17th century distilled in the cellars located along the river.

The estate covers 11 hectares of vineyards exclusively located in Grande Champagne, classified Premier Cru of the Cognac region. The grape variety is mainly Ugni Blanc (88%), 6% Colombard and 6% Folle Blanche.

The harvest is manual, and immediately after the first and only alcoholic fermentation, the wine is distilled in a 1000-liter red copper still - a small capacity rare nowadays - driven by the current owner. Then the eau-de-vie will age for many years in cellars along the river, a qualitatively very favorable factor for optimal aging of the cognacs through very slow evaporation.
