What is the history of Maison Pierre Gimonnet?

It's around 1750 that we can find in the archives traces of the Gimonnets as winegrowers in Champagne, where they deliver their harvest to the Champagne trade. From generation to generation, they passed on their love of the vine. It wasn't until 1935 that Pierre Gimonnet began its own winemaking business. Michel, Pierre's son, joined the business in 1955. His passion and pragmatism enabled him to be a pioneer in parcel-based vinification, giving each terroir the opportunity to fully express itself. Today, Olivier and Didier Gimonnet embody the third generation, worthy heirs to an exceptional savoir-faire.

Description Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Cuvée Oenophile 2008.

Oenophile, because champagneA elaborated only during the great years/millenniums but without dosage liqueur.

It is a blended champagne composed as a symphony with wines from a single year and referenced as such under the exceptional name of Millésime.

It is also an assembly of parcels of vines such as bushes, big mounts, bottom of the boat, high bauves or low vines and cross-white classified Grand or Premier Cru exclusively.

The harvest was done manually.

The dress is of a sustained bronze.

Nose and mouth are balanced with art and mastery to give complexity marked by a fine vinosity brought by the Pinots Noirs in majority Grand Cru. The "Pierre Gimonnet" freshness is well present.

Will go perfectly well as an aperitif or throughout a meal composed of seafood, white meats or red meats such as a roasted rack of lamb.

A great champagne with excellent ageing potential in a cool cellar, away from light and with the bottle lying down.
