Delivery date - Details

This plot belonged to one of the first Champagne winegrowers, officer of King Louis XV.

The current name comes from a wooden mill that existed up until 1789 in the French revolution. It was destroyed by a fire and replaced by a stone mill that didn’t survive the two world wars.

Writings from the 19th century certify that the wines from this plot were very well-known in the English and Russian courts.

The plot, of a surface area of 2.20 hectares is classified Premier Cru, and located in the heart of the Reims mountain, at the top of a hill, and thus benefits from a great sunning. It is planted in half in Pinot Noir variety and Chardonnay.

The wine is also composed in the same halved proportion for grape varieties, and is the result of a blend of several vintage wines from the best years.

The colour is a golden yellow.

To the nose : aromas of butter, lightly toasted brioche. Then shades of pear, damsons and prune.

To the palate : a lot of citrus (grapefruit, lime, tangerine,…). The acidic and refreshing finish discloses a great minerality.

Perfect as an aperitif between 6 and 8°C. A Great wine for gourmets during a meal that will work with sauced fishes like pike with a white butter sauce or scallops on a bed of leeks. With desert, perfect with a pineapple or grapefruit carpaccio.

The Cattier House is located in Chigny-les-Roses, an exceptional territory classified Premier Cru, in the heart of the Champagne region, between Reims and Epernay.

The Cattier family owns vineyards since 1763, but it wasn’t until 1918 that Champagne Cattier was created.

In 1951, the Houses acquired the Clos du Moulin.

The House’s vineyard spreads on more than 30 hectares in Premier Cru, on the well-known Montagne de Reims. The cellars are more than 30 metres underground, on three floors, and one of the region’s deepest. They display 3 architecture styles : roman, gothic and Renaissance. Excellent for optimum maturation.

The House is still independent and family-owned, and the annual sales amount to 1 million bottles, of which 60% are exported in more than 70 countries.
