Chartogne-Taillet

The Champagne Chartogne-Taillet embodies artisanal excellence and family passion in the world of Champagne. Founded by Alexandre Chartogne in 2006, this house of Champagne located in the village of Merfy, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in Champagne, is distinguished by its commitment to tradition, its attachment to terroir and its perpetual quest for innovation.

The Chartogne-Taillet family history is relatively recent, but it is marked by a spirit of dedication to the art of Champagne winemaking. Alexandre Chartogne, descendant of a line of winemakers, decided to create his own house of Champagne by enhancing the family vineyards and expressing the unique potential of each terroir.

The Montagne de Reims terroir is at the heart of the Chartogne-Taillet Champagnes identity. The vineyards cover around 12 hectares, spread across several villages, including Merfy, Saint-Thierry and Fontaine-Denis. The Montagne de Reims is renowned for its chalky soils and varied exposure, creating an ideal environment for growing the emblematic grape varieties of the Champagne, such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Respect for terroir and biodiversity is at the heart of the Chartogne-Taillet philosophy. Viticulture is carried out responsibly, favoring environmentally-friendly practices. The vines are carefully tended, avoiding the use of harsh chemicals, to pRéserver the health of the soil and the quality of the grapes.

The harvest at Chartogne-Taillet is carried out by hand, allowing careful selection of the ripest and healthiest bunches. This ensures that only grapes of the highest quality are used to make the cuvées.

Winemaking at Chartogne-Taillet is marked by a blend of tradition and innovation. Grapes are gently pressed, and juices are vinified in stainless steel vats to pRéserver freshness and purity of aromas. Part of the cuvées undergo malolactic fermentation to add complexity and roundness to the Champagnes.

The Champagnes Chartogne-Taillet are aged in oak barrels and stainless steel vats, creating a rich texture and subtle aromas. The cuvées age on lees for varying periods, giving them characteristic depth and elegance.

The Champagnes Chartogne-Taillet are distinguished by their elegance, freshness and ability to express the terroir of Montagne de Reims. They offer a complex palette of aromas, from fresh fruit to toasted bread, with floral and mineral nuances. On the palate, the Champagnes are well-balanced, with a fine effervescence and lingering finish, which testify to their high quality.

The house of Champagne Chartogne-Taillet offers a varied range of cuvées, from non Champagnes Millésimés to prestige cuvées. Each cuvée is the fruit of a meticulous search for the purest expression of terroir, reflecting the diversity and richness of the Montagne de Reimss terroir.

Description Chartogne-Taillet Les Couarres.

This cuvée is mostly made from the 2017 vintage. These grapes are planted on the sandy, chalky soils of the "Les Couarres" parcel located in Merfy.

These chalky soils bring minerality and saline notes, while aging in 228-liter barrels adds density and beautiful aromatic power.

With its complexity and salinity, the Champagne Chartogne Taillet Les Couarres will pair perfectly with turbot fillets in sauce and baby vegetables.
