Located in Mareuil on Aÿ, the House of Champagne ROger Pouillon was founded in 1947.
The house nowadays is run by the third generation: Fabrice Pouillon
It is a very fragmented vineyard spread over 36 parcels representing an area of 6.5 hectares. The vineyard is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes.
The cellars are buried 15 meters deep, a unique situation very favorable to optimal aging bringing to the wines Rares and exceptional qualities.
It's a plot-based cuvée produced between 2,500 and 4,000 bottles each year, depending on the harvest.
Originating from the Mareuil terroir on Aÿ, classified Premier Cru, cuvée Les Blanchiens is located mid-slope and south-facing at 170 meters altitude.
This is a Champagne, which combines finesse and complexity, fruitiness and freshness. In this cuvée we find the patina of ageing in wood and beautiful fruit notes Secs (apricot, hazelnut).
The palate is creamy with an impressive, taut length, marked by salinity and the bitterness of lightly candied citrus zest.
It will be ideal as an aperitif, but will also go wonderfully well with refined dishes such as smoked langoustines served with a Secs fruit cream sauce and pomelo zest.
