In the early 1900s, Alfred Bonville took the ambitious gamble of buying plots of vines while the Phylloxera crisis raged a few years earlier. His son Franck Bonville founded the eponymous Champagne in the early 1930s, and today it is still in the hands of his successors. The Champagnes produced carry a history and are among the highest quality Côte des blancss.
In 1937, Alfred Bonville and his son Franck acquired a winemaker's house in the heart of Avize on Côte des blancs to make their own Champagne, but it is only after the Sec second world war that Franck will begin to market the first vintages under his name and to enlarge the Domaine on the terroir of the Avize. In 1970, their son Gilles and his wife Ingrid joined the family business and modernized the technical tools with a more appropriate technology. Their son Olivier, with a degree in oenology and several experiences in winemaking in Corsica and Germany, joined them in 1996, representing the fourth generation. It is also at this time that Gilles will decide to conduct the vineyard in a reasoned manner.
The House Franck Bonville specializes in Cuvées Blanc de blancs in Grand Cru from Avize, one of the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Blancs. The vineyard of Domaine is spread over 15 hectares across three villages classified as Grand Cru: Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The grapes are picked at perfect maturity, reflecting the purest expression of their terroir. Once the vinifications are completed, the bottles age between 2 and a half and 6 years in cellars, located in underground millstone galleries dating from the 19th century.
The cuvée Brut Blanc de blancs Grand Cru reflects the DNA of the House Franck Bonville, it is a Champagne that combines freshness, finesse and elegance. It will be perfect as an aperitif as well as with a seafood platter.
The Unisson cuvée Grand Cru delivers a more refined and warmer expression. Possessing fine bubbles, plenty of elegance and an aromatic framework carried on citrus and white flower notes, it will delight the most curious taste buds as an aperitif as well as with refined dishes.
Give in to the charm of the 2015 Cuvée Pur Avize and its notes of flowers, fine paste and white-fleshed fruits. From 3 parcels of Chardonnay from the Avize terroir, this is a noble, creamy and fresh Champagne, ideal as an aperitif as well as with generous fish dishes.
A Blanc de blancs from parcels of vines on the Avize terroir only.
This Champagne Millésimé is made exclusively when the harvest is exceptional.
Assemblage of 3 parcels from the heart of the Avizois terroir that encircle the village. The very fine bubbles hint at the energy of this Champagne.
The grape variety used is exclusively Chardonnay, giving this Champagne a very flowery side of acacia flowers, wild strawberries and white-fleshed fruit blossoms. The finish is slightly mango.
Champagne any time of day with smoked fish canapés or even grilled fish à la plancha flavored with Espelette pepper.
