Lanson

House Lanson was founded in Reims in 1760 by François Delamotte, an alderman and merchant in Reims. It is one of the oldest houses in Champagne.

In 1798, Nicolas-Louis Delamotte, Chevalier de l'Ordre de Malte, succeeded his father and took the Maltese Cross as his business emblem.

In 1837, Jean-Baptiste Lanson, associated with the Delamotte family in the house of Champagne, on the death of Nicolas-Louis Delamotte, was entrusted with the reins of the house, which then took the name Lanson, Père et Fils.

In 1882, Victor-Marie Lanson signed his first exclusive agent contract with the House of Percy Fox in London, a contract that would last for over 100 years, ensuring the success of Champagne Lanson.

The year 1900 marked an important turning point for the House of Lanson. Queen Victoria rewarded Champagne Lanson with the prestigious Royal Warrant of Appointment, which the company still holds today.

From the outset, Maison Lanson has perpetuated the Champagne tradition of not using malolactic fermentation. This specificity favors optimal development of fruit aromas, preserves the freshness of the grapes while allowing longer aging, a guarantee of the quality of the time spent in the prestigious cellars of Maison Lanson.

Description Lanson Le Blanc de Blancs.

Harmonious combination of the delicacy and minerality typical of Côte des blancs and the richness and generosity of Montagne de Reims, Champagne Le Blanc de blancs brilliantly embodies the Chardonnay identity of Maison Lanson.

Originating from a careful blend of 15 Crus, 70% of which are classified Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, this wine is characterized by its freshness and vitality.

The grapes from Côte des blancs provide finesse and elegance, while those from Montagne de Reims give Champagne fleshy, rich notes. Together, they form a great Chardonnay where delicacy and finesse are magnified by a pure, mineral and refreshing finish, the hallmark of the Lanson style.

To achieve this unique balance, the 2017 harvest is here complemented by 40% wines from Réserve, some of which are over 10 years old, adding consistency and aromatic depth to the whole. A 5-year cellar ageing period after blending results in subtle complexity and persistent tension.

To the eye, Le Blanc de blancs is distinguished by a luminous golden color, with green highlights and fine, elegant bubbles. On the nose, it offers deep, fine aromas reminiscent of frangipane, fruit Secs and candied citrus, complemented by notes of William pear, sesame seeds, lime blossom and aniseed that underscore its minerality.

On the palate, its fresh, invigorating texture is marked by aromas of nougat and citrus zest. Hints of peel and a touch of chalkiness give way to a saline, delicate and pure finish. This Champagne is the ideal companion for gourmets, pairing perfectly with a scallop carpaccio with lime and yuzu or, for a simpler pleasure, with a croque-madame with Reims ham.

Served between 6 and 8°C, Le Blanc de blancs can be enjoyed immediately. However, if optimal storage conditions are met, it will benefit from a few years' patience to develop even more complex aromas.
