Barons de Rothschild

Passionate about France's finest terroirs, since 2005 the three branches of the Rothschild Family - represented by Baron Philippe Sereys de Rothschild (Château Mouton Rothschild), baron Benjamin and his wife Ariane (Château Clarke - Groupe Edmond de Rothschild), Baron Éric and his daughter Saskia (Château Lafitte Rothschild) - are uniting, for the first time around a common will, in the creation of an exceptional Champagne wine.

The House credo: "The first quality must be absolute elegance!"

The Family's personal and original interpretation of this Grand Vin de Champagne involves a very "chardonnay" style.

The latter represents over 70% of the House's supplies, only in Premier Cru and Grand Cru.

And to claim the purest possible expression of the nobility of these juices, dosages are minimalist.

Description Barons de Rothschild Brut Millésime 2014.

2014 is a vintage of contrasts. It began with a mild, wet winter, followed by a very Sec spring.

The summer was rainy and cold, and only the warmth of September enabled a very good-quality harvest.

The blend is constructed from 50% chardonnay from Avize, Grand Cru from Côte des blancs, and 50% pinot noir from Ambonnay, Grand Cru from Montagne de Reims.

After vinification by parcel, the wine is aged on fine lees for 6/7 months in small vats.

Ageing on laths, after bottling, is 7 years.

After disgorging, a simple dosage at 5g/L is practiced, followed by a 12-month resting period.

Chardonnay dominates this cuvée, and very quickly we perceive its typical fresh, lemony notes.

The minerality is well present, supported by eXOtic fruit.

Finally, the toasty notes of ageing and the spices of pinot noir come to the fore.

The attack on the palate is ample and structured.

Raspberry recalls freshness and notes of almond and roasting mark richness, while salinity recalls the chalky subsoils of great terroirs.

A cuvée all delicacy and character.

This Millésimé 2014 will be a perfect aperitif companion, but will also know how to surround a supreme of duck with cream.
