Gorged with red berries, notes of grilled almonds, it is advised for main dishes (truffle-based).

Appellation :Champagne Grand Cru
Vintage :2000
Grapes :100% Pinot Noir

Joseph Krug was born in 1800 in the German town of Mainz, part of France’s Napoleonic empire at the time. Growing up at the heart of the Moselle, he was exposed early on to winegrowing as fragmented as the Champagne region he would one day call home.

Setting off at 24 as a trader and commercial traveler, he finally arrived in Paris in 1834. Joseph then seizes an opportunity : he starts working for Jacquesson, a Champagne House founded in 1798.

He quickly became an associate.

At the age of 42 with support from Hippolyte de Vivès, Joseph Krug founds the Krug&Co House in 1843. The Reims Krug House was born.

The Krug House uses wooden casks for vinification, in small 205 litres barrels made in French oak.

Truthful to its Charter, Premiers Grands Cru only selected Clos du Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay with their vintages, since those are the only ones from Krug to be legally classified Grand Cru, right at the top of Champagnes quality rankings.
