Alfred Gratien
A family-run Champagne house since 1864! If exception has a name it's certainly Champagne Alfred Gratien. The Champagnes from Alfred Gratien are hand-sewn Champagnes, a guarantee of quality and uniqueness.
At the heart of the Champagne vineyards, you have to stray a little from downtown Epernay to reach the Champagne Alfred Gratien cellars. It was here, on rue Maurice Cerveaux, that Alfred Gratien set up shop and created its first cuvées in 1864. For more than a century and a half, Champagne Alfred Gratien has remained in the family, perpetuating the know-how of its founder.
Description Alfred Gratien Cuvée 565.
This Cuvée 565, 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir, is crafted by the house's Chef de Caves, Nicolas Jaeger, using a method close to the solera.
Five consecutive vintages (from 2007 to 2011), vinified in 228L oak barrels, are blended here and then bottled in 2012.
They then spend 6 years on lath and will leave without any dosage.
The wine is a golden color with green-yellow highlights.
The bubbles are fine and form a beautiful cordon on the surface.
The nose, marked by maturity, offers charming notes of honey, hazelnut, angelica and praline.
The palate is creamy, but also vinous and enlivened by a frank vivacity.
The finish, pure and persistent, is prolonged by a beautiful salinity.
This Cuvée 565, which reveals the House's expertise, is a true invitation to travel.
It will be the perfect accompaniment to milk-fed veal with mushrooms or a simple steamed saint pierre.
