In this perfect symphony, the Cellar Master of Mailly Champagnes reveals all his mastery to skillfully compose, and in perfect balance, this champagne coming exclusively from parcels classified as Grand Cru and planted for 60% in Pinot Noir grapes and for 40% in Chardonnay grapes

This cuvée of first pressing only has been elaborated with the harvest of 2014 exclusively.

The best parcels planted in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes were selected by the Cellar Master during the manual harvest to chisel this masterpiece.

The number of bottles available is limited and each one is numbered to ensure traceability.

The color is brilliant and seductive with its elegant golden color.

The first attack on the nose is very floral with hints of white spring flowers such as cherry, pear, peach and apple trees where citrus aromas such as Corsican clementine or pink grapefruit from Florida or Israel are elegantly mixed with chalky and slightly brioche-like mineral notes in the background.

In the mouth: the first perception is very small red fruits like wild strawberry or raspberry, which fade with elegance on notes of yellow-fleshed fruits like peach, mirabelle plum from Alsace, yellow vine peach or nectarine. The finish is mineral and very long.

It is a champagne for aperitif dinner to be served around 10 to 12°C with tapas with shrimps, crayfish or lobster medallions. Even better with a sea bass in a salt crust, turbot fillets, or risotto with white truffles from northern Italy.

We suggest aging in a cellar away from light and vibrations, bottles lying down with a hygrometric degree of about 70%. Successive tastings will allow us to measure its qualitative evolution until its peak.

The village of Mailly, which comes from the Latin Malliusacum, was classified Grand Cru at the beginning of the 19th century. It is also a village surrounded by the famous grands crus of Ludes, Verzenay and Verzy and 14 kilometers from Reims.

After the enormous damage caused by the war of 1870 under Napoleon III, the phylloxera crisis in the years 1880-1900 and the First World War and especially to its eastern region and its region of Champagne where the French staff had based its headquarters, the crisis of 1929 arrives with its Black Thursday which will extend to all countries and therefore active or potential markets.

To face this stock market crisis first and then financial, some Mailly winegrowers will face up to it and join forces. They then founded the Société de Producteurs de Mailly Champagne and decided to make champagne wines from their own grapes from their village classified as Grand Cru.

To date, the Mailly estate has 70 hectares in the Grand Cru village of Mailly located in the center of the Montagne de Reims Natural Park.

In accordance with the legislation, Champagne Mailly Grand Cru produces its champagnes only with Pinot Noir for 75% and Chardonnay for 25%.

In the basement, the House has 7 floors of cellars and 1 kilometer of chalk pits and some of its cellars were dug in the chalk from 1929 to 1965 by the founding winegrowers who at the same time built vaulted cellars ideal for aging.
