Henriet-Bazin

The House of Champagne Henriet-Bazin is located in the heart of Montagne de Reims, reigning over a vineyard of 7.76 hectares, some of which are classified as Premier Cru around the town of Villers-Marmey and Grand Cru around the towns of Verzy and Verzenay.

Marie-Noëlle Rainon-Henriet is now the fourth generation to manage the family Domaine, in a very committed approach to the environment and the preservation of biodiversity. While she manages the vinification of her wines, her husband takes care of the work in the vineyard.

What is the history of the House of Champagne Henriet-Bazin?

It was in 1890 that Gaston Henriet decided to found his house with two winegrower friends of Verzenay. At that time, all of the grapes produced by the winegrowers were sold to the large trading houses, Gaston Henriet and his friends wishing to have total control over the vinification of their production and its marketing. His son Robert took over in 1930, followed by Daniel in 1962 who married Michelle Bazin, a winegrower's daughter in Villers-Marmery. From their union was born the definitive name of the company: Henriet-Bazin. Their daughter Marie-Noëlle took over the operation in 1991, and since then she has never ceased to pay tribute to her family roots thanks to Champagnes of great finesse.

Description Henriet-Bazin Léonard Rosé Brut.

The Cuvée Léonard Rosé Brut from the House of Champagne Henriet-Bazin is an exceptional cuvée that brilliantly expresses the quintessence of its terroir Grand Cru. Hand-picked from perfectly ripe grapes, it is the fruit of an equitable blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, emblematic of the Montagne de Reims and particularly of the prestigious villages of Verzenay and Verzy.

The incorporation of 19% red wine, vinified with care by the house, gives it a delicate power. These south-facing Pinot Noirs give it an aromatic palette rich in red fruit, expressed with finesse and depth. For its part, the Chardonnay completes this gustatory ballet, offering persistent freshness and great finesse to the whole.

To make this Champagne, Domaine blends its tête de cuvée (its first press) with a wine from Réserve from an exceptional solera begun in 1968. After 9 months' ageing on the lees in enamelled vats, followed by a minimum of three years' meticulous ageing on the lees in bottle, the cuvée reaches exemplary maturity.

La robe is adorned with pretty golden and salmon hues. The nose unfolds with intensity, revealing aromas of fresh red fruits accompanied by subtle nuances of spices and brioche notes. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise, before giving way to a beautiful amplitude where ripe fruit flavors mingle with a chalky minerality, typical of the terroirs that gave birth to this wine. The finish is long, carried by refreshing acidity and a fine, persistent bubble, a sign of masterful vinification. The dosage of 6.5 gr/l ensures a beautiful purity on the palate while maintaining a balance between acidity and roundness.

This Champagne will accompany delicate starters, fish or white meat dishes, as well as red fruit desserts. It's an authentic expression of the House's Henriet-Bazin savoir-faire.
