Penet Chardonnet

Description Penet Chardonnet Verzy "La croix l'Aumonier" 2011.

The Maison Penet-Chardonnet operates a 6-hectare vineyard, 5 on Verzy and 1 on Verzenay, two villages classified Grand Cru.

La Croix l'Aumonier " is a lieu-dit located in the heart of the Verzy terroir on chalky soil oriented South-South-East, within which the Penet family owns a plot nearly forty years old and cultivated 100% in Pinot Noir.

Vinification is carried out in 400 or 500-liter oak barrels, without malolactic and with aging on lees. The wines spend 10 years on laths before being disgorged and receive a dosage of 5g/L, this is a Extra brut.

This Blanc de noirs is a balanced Champagne, where ripeness, power and smoothness blend harmoniously.

It sports a rich gold-colored hue. The nose is intense, fresh and greedy. The first notes are of apples and brioche, but soon the oaky character comes to the fore, with its hints of nuts, toast and spices. The palate is rich, unctuous and fruity, but also fresh, with its aromas of apples, both Royal Gala and Granny Smith, and its zest of pink grapefruit.  The finish is long, chalky, on tension and minerality.

This Verzy La Croix l'Aumonier 2011 will bring pep to a beautiful poultry Vallée d'Auge style. But you can also try a salmon koulibiac, a real treat!
