Alexandre Penet

The family has been winemakers for 4 centuries, but Domaine was only acquired in 1930 by the Penet brothers, Gilbert and Désiré. Following a marriage, Domaine will be renamed Penet- Chardonnet.

Since 2008, Alexandre Penet (Gilbert's great-grandson) and his wife Martine have watched over the 6 ha of Grand Cru classified vines of Montagne de Reims, 5 at Verzy and 1 at Vernezay.

The Champagnes all have a strong personality; this is due to blending with wines from Réserve from a "perpetual Réserve" (identical to a solera system).

Since 2011 Alexandre Penet has also been making cuvées for the trade under its own name, full of character and finesse, all in Extra-Brut or Brut nature.

Description Alexandre Penet Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature.

This cuvée Brut nature, 100% pinot noir only in Grand Cru, is the result of a blend of wines from several vintages, partially aged in oak barrels for 8 months, with wines from the House's perpetual Réserve.

This Champagne expresses all the terroir of Verzy and Verzenay, combining richness and verticality.

The wine has a slightly amber color and opens with notes, of course of small red berries, but also of pear, spice and undergrowth.

On the palate, we find the greedy notes of yellow fruit, the elegance of small fresh flowers and the serenity of walnut.

The finish, long and pure, benefits from the absence of dosage. Try it with oysters from the Cotentin region, or simply with a plain grilled pollack.
