Laurent-Perrier

What connoisseur of Champagnes doesn't know Maison Laurent-Perrier, whose sumptuous cuvées possess an almost refreshing taste of history? A veritable benchmark within the circle of great Champagne houses, Maison Laurent-Perrier has always demonstrated an innovative spirit, displaying a very distinctive style of finesse and elegance for two centuries now.

What is the history of Maison Laurent-Perrier?

It was towards the end of the First Empire, in 1812, that André-Michel Pierlot, a former cooper and bottler from Chigny-les-Roses, settled in Tours-sur-Marne as a wine merchant for Champagne. Tours-sur-Marne is a picturesque village located at the crossroads of the Marne's three main wine-growing regions: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des blancs, and is one of only 17 communes to be classified as Grand Cru. In particular, he acquired two plots of land, "Les Plaisances" and "La Tour Glorieux", on which he built his own house.

His son Alphonse succeeded him, but as the latter had no children, it was his cellar master Eugène Laurent who became the owner in 1881. It was he who endowed this small business of Champagne with several annexes in Tours-sur-Marne and pieces of vines in the region's best crus: Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Ambonnay, all classified as Grand Cru. He also had 800 meters of cellars dug to preserve the wines in optimal conditions, a constant that still characterizes the house today.

Following Eugène Laurent's death in 1887, it was his wife Mathilde Perrier who ensured the... See more ...

Description Laurent-Perrier Brut Réserve Millésime 2000 Magnum.

It is a Champagne, in perfect balance between the Chardonnay grape (50%) and the Pinot Noir grape (50%), harvested in the famous vineyards of the largest appellation in Champagne: Grands Crus de la Côte des Blancs: Avize, Cramant, Oger, Chouilly for the chardonnay. Verzy, Mailly, Ambonnay, Bouzy for the Pinot Noir. No Mesnil sur-Oger because of the hail in August.

The year 2000 was marked by a mild winter with some peaks of cold in November. A rainy spring in April was followed by contrasting May. After a rainy month of July, little sunshine and dotted with hailstorms until August, the maturation went well thanks to a very beautiful month of September. In the end, a beautiful harvest started in mid-September.

The color is very deep golden yellow.

The nose evokes floral notes such as lime blossom and spring hawthorn as well as citrus notes such as lemon from Menton, pink grapefruit from Florida or even Corsican clementine.

The palate is a perfect balance brought by the Chardonnay, balanced harmoniously with the Pinots Noirs, notes of red fruits such as Plougastel strawberry or Mara des Bois, all marked by a very long and very fresh finish.

To be served around 10/12 ° C, but not less, so as not to tarnish the richness of the exceptional aromas and flavors.

Food / wine pairing: a brilliant opportunity to introduce this exceptional Champagne with friends / family on carpaccios of smoked fish such as salmon or Auvergne trout or also on a red tuna sashimi.

Also suitable with red fruit desserts such as quetsch tart from Alsace, yellow fruit such as plum or Cretan apricots.

The magnums should be kept lying down in the cellar, away from light and noise with a humidity of around 70% and with successive tastings in order to measure the peak of this exceptional champagne.
