What is the history of Maison Pierre Gimonnet?

It's around 1750 that we can find in the archives traces of the Gimonnets as winegrowers in Champagne, where they deliver their harvest to the Champagne trade. From generation to generation, they passed on their love of the vine. It wasn't until 1935 that Pierre Gimonnet began its own winemaking business. Michel, Pierre's son, joined the business in 1955. His passion and pragmatism enabled him to be a pioneer in parcel-based vinification, giving each terroir the opportunity to fully express itself. Today, Olivier and Didier Gimonnet embody the third generation, worthy heirs to an exceptional savoir-faire.

Description Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Cuvée Spécial Club Oger 2015.

It is a Champagne of assembly parcel but coming exclusively from the Grand Cru of Oger planted 100 % in type of vine chardonnay. It is an extra brut which comes exclusively from the Côte des Blancs.

All the grapes are harvested manually and the production for this magnificent 2015 vintage is 5200 bottles.

The robe is a brilliant pale yellow gold.

On the nose as well as on the palate: white spring flowers on acacia, apple trees, vine peach trees, followed by fine points of brioche, bun, toast and sweet almonds.

The mouth is ample, creamy and silky, with a light minerality wrapped in very nice touches of citrus fruits, such as lemon of Menton, lychee or bergamot of southern Italy.

It is perfect as an aperitif with smoked salmon, as an appetizer with foie gras medallions flavored with black truffles from the Quercy region, with seafood dishes grilled a la plancha, such as sea bass or red mullet, or in a beurre blanc sauce with turbot or freshwater fish such as pike or trout.

Happy marriage also with acake dark chocolate or coffee or coconut mignardises from the West Indies.

To be consumed around 10 to 12° but not less in order not to kill the flavors and the perfumes of this exceptional champagne that we will have taken care to make age in cellar, bottle laid down, protected from the light and the noise, with an optimal hygrometric degree of 70 %.

It is also a wine to be decanted into a carafe 15 minutes before serving and placed in the refrigerator.
