Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Cuvee Special Club Oger 2015

Availability: In stock

The power and minerality of a Grand Cru Extra brut Oger Champagne.

- +

It is a Champagne of plot assembly but coming exclusively from the Grand Cru d'Oger planted 100% in Chardonnay grape variety. It is an extra brut which therefore comes exclusively from the Côte des Blancs.

All the harvest is manual and the production for this magnificent 2015 vintage is 5,200 bottles.

The color is brilliant pale yellow gold.

On the nose and on the palate: white spring flowers on acacia blossoms, apple trees, vine peach, followed by fine hints of brioche, bun, toasted and sweet almonds.

The palate is full-bodied, creamy and silky, with a slight minerality enveloped in very nice touches of citrus, such as lemon from Menton, lychee or bergamot from southern Italy.

Goes perfectly well as an aperitif on smoked salmon scrub, as a starter on medallions of foie gras flavored with Quercy black truffles, on sea fish dishes grilled on the plancha, such as sea bass or red mullet or in sauce white butter on a turbot or on freshwater fish such as pike or trout.

A happy marriage, too, with a dark chocolate cake or coffee or coconut sweets from the Antilles.

To consume around 10 to 12 ° but not less so as not to kill the flavors and scents of this exceptional champagne that we have taken care to age in the cellar, bottle lying down, protected from light and direct sunlight. noise, with an optimum humidity of 70%.

It is also a wine to be decanted in a carafe 15 minutes before serving and placed in the refrigerator.

In the archives, we can find traces of the Gimonnet family around 1750, as winegrowers in the Champagne region.

It wasn’t until 1935 that Pierre Gimonnet started the vinification activity with the Pierre Gimonnet House. Michel, son of Pierre, went back to the House in 1955. Today, Olivier and Didier Gimonnet, a third generation, are managing the House with a 3-centuries-old expertise.

It is one of the few champagne houses to own a vineyard planted solely in Chardonnay on 28 hectares, on the prestigious Côte des Blancs, on the Reims mountain, and also exclusively Premier Cru : Vertus et Cuis (where the House is located) and Grands Crus : Cramant, Chouilly and Oger.
