Jacques Selosse

The Domaine Jacques Selosse was founded in 1949 in the village Grand Cru of Avize. His son, Anselme, has taken over Domaine since 1974 to make it the small rising star of Champagne.

Only 50,000 bottles are produced each year at Domaine Jacques Selosse, made up of 7.5 hectares spread over Extraordinary terroirs that Anselme Selosse has succeeded in sublimating plot by plot.

The Chardonnay parcels are located on Côte des blancs : Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger while the Pinot Noir parcels come from Montagne de Reims : Aÿ, Ambonnay and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.

The quality of Selosse's Champagnes is recognized by all the major critics, and the bottles are highly prized all over the world given the low production.

The Champagnes Jacques Selosse are famous for their vinosity, purity and perfectly controlled oxidative notes, as well as utterly irresistible gingerbread and apple aromas.

Description Jacques Selosse Version Originale.

This Blanc de blancs Extra brut, a blend of three successive vintages of the Grands Crus d'Avize, Cramant and Oger, perfectly lives up to its name. It is both an older cuvée than Initial (with which it forms the base of the range) and the original and original expression of a terroir.

On these sloping hillsides with inclines of over 15%, the soil is poor, the clay layer thin, the root system is quickly in contact with the minerals necessary for it to flourish.

Each parcel of each of the three vintages is vinified and aged separately in Burgundy barrels. After bottling, Champagne spends 7 years in the cellar to find this exceptional harmony. It's a superb introduction to Selosse's unique style, uniting the vertical power of the chalky terroir, the richness of the fruit and subtle notes of oxidation. This intense, powerful Champagne is produced in very small quantities (3600 bottles).

The nose is dizzying and bewitching, made of granny apple, mirabelle plum, brioche, hazelnut and spices Rares, such as curry and nutmeg, and a hint of star anise. The palate is full and vinous, with vanilla, toast and acacia honey, balanced by a delicious note of mandarin. The finish is marked by a vibrant, saline and mineral tension that gives this wine energy and persistence.

This Version Originale cuvée is a Champagne with a strong personality that will pair easily with a monkfish tail with saffron or a simple roasted turbot.
