Jacques Selosse

The Domaine Jacques Selosse was founded in 1949 in the village Grand Cru of Avize. His son, Anselme, has taken over Domaine since 1974 to make it the small rising star of Champagne.

Only 50,000 bottles are produced each year at Domaine Jacques Selosse, made up of 7.5 hectares spread over Extraordinary terroirs that Anselme Selosse has succeeded in sublimating plot by plot.

The Chardonnay parcels are located on Côte des blancs : Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger while the Pinot Noir parcels come from Montagne de Reims : Aÿ, Ambonnay and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.

The quality of Selosse's Champagnes is recognized by all the major critics, and the bottles are highly prized all over the world given the low production.

The Champagnes Jacques Selosse are famous for their vinosity, purity and perfectly controlled oxidative notes, as well as utterly irresistible gingerbread and apple aromas.

Description Jacques Selosse Initial Blanc de Blancs.

This is certainly the most representative cuvée of Maison Jacques Selosse. This Grand Cru Blanc de blancs is made from Chardonnay vines around 50 years old from the terroirs of Avize, Cramant and Oger. This is a blend of three consecutive vintages.

The wines are aged under wood in Burgundian oak barrels where they will be bâtonnage but not fined or filtered. After aging for 3 years, they receive a light dosage of 2.5g/L.

This Champagne, produced in just 33,000 bottles, is a real Selosse-style entry. It opens with an intense bouquet of white flowers and tropical fruit, tightened by a beautiful chalky note. The palate is round and very elegant, with ripe vanilla and candied lemon, enhanced by a slightly oxidized hint. The finish is fresh and persistent, dominated by chalk.

A great Champagne of emotion to savor with just-seared foie gras and truffle jus, or one over a lovely polenta with black olives.
