Louis Latour

Latour, a prestigious name in Bourgogne for more than two hundred years. In fact, the House Louis Latour was founded in 1797.

It is a family of winegrowers in Aloxe-Corton since the seventeenth century that has patiently built up its vineyard of about fifty hectares, including 29 hectares in Grands Crus - Côtes d'Or. A unique Domaine.

The 29 hectares Grands Crus of Domaine Louis Latour vineyards extend from Côte de Beaune to Côte de Nuits. The House also owns the Château Corton Grancey and cellars dating from 1834 set in the rock of Corton "Pierrières" allowing for optimal maturation and aging.

The House is to this day directed by Louis-Fabrice Latour, a seventh generation.

The majority of the Domaine Louis Latour vines are located in Aloxe-Corton, the family's birthplace. In this village, Louis Latour owns 10.5 hectares of Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne, one of the most famous white wines of Bourgogne, but also several hectares of great red wines: Corton "Clos de la Vigne au Saint", Corton "Bressandes", Corton "Chaumes", Corton "Pougets", Corton "Perrières", Corton "Clos du Roi" and Corton "Grèves". Description Louis Latour Volnay Premier Cru "En Chevret" 2016.

Stemming from the qualitative "En Chevret" climat located in Volnay Premier Cru, the eponymous cuvée of Louis Latour is a very elegant wine endowed with great finesse. Its vineyard, which borders that of Meursault, benefits from ideal exposure and an exceptional terroir, the combination of which produces remarkable wines every vintage.

At the winery, the wine in the making is vinified in the traditional way in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging for 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, 35% of which are new, gives it harmonious structure and complexity. These French oak barrels, sourced directly from cooperage Louis Latour, are toasted at medium temperature, allowing the wine's primary aromas not to be overpowered by the wood while adding extra soul to the wine's texture.

At tasting, this Volnay Premier Cru 2016 stands out for its deep ruby color and highly aromatic bouquet in which seductive notes of cherry and mocha mingle. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and fresh, revealing aromas of licorice and chlorophyll, accompanied by beautiful silky tannins.

This wine pairs ideally with dishes such as veal chop with morel cream, various game, or mature cheeses.
