Domaine des Lambrays

In a title deed from the Abbey of Citeaux dated February 1365, the name "Cloux des Lambrey" appears for the first time, a spelling which disappeared over time and which today is written "Clos des Lambrays". On a milestone in the wall of sealed Clos des Lambrays appears this same date as a reminder to visitors in homage to time.

Le Clos des Lambrays is located at Morey-Saint-Denis on the prestigious Côte des Nuits. The village of Morey-Saint-Denis has the highest proportion of Grands Crus.

The Clos, one of the Rares and most prestigious Clos de Bourgogne is surrounded by walls and is situated on a gentle ridge on which lies the vineyard of Clos des Lambrays whose oldest vines are over 60 years old. The Clos des Lambrays is planted with Pinot Noir on a very small area of around 8 hectares, a very Rare but sublime production.

The Clos des Lambrays house also produces a Puligny-Montrachet and Clos du Cailleret les Folatieres both in Premier Cru.

Description Domaine des Lambrays "Clos des Lambrays" Grand Cru 1995.

Owning almost all of Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (8.66 of the appellation's 9 hectares), Domaine des Lambrays boasts a vast terroir that, beyond its size, stands out from other Burgundy terroirs thanks to its varied topography and geology.

Firstly, the vineyard's gentle slopes provide optimum sunshine for pinots noirs, which, benefiting from different exposures, reach remarkable aromatic maturity.

This is complemented by the astonishing geological diversity enjoyed by the Clos des Lambrays vineyard, within which the upper plots flourish on marly soil while the lower plots draw their resources from clay-limestone soils. This specific composition enables the Pinot Noirs to develop different aromatic profiles and, once blended, to create a wine endowed with the richness and finesse that give this Grand Cru de Bourgogne its identity.

Maturation, carefully carried out in the estate's cellars, completes the work of Domaine des Lambrays. The use of oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year, allows the wine to develop an elegant tannic structure while retaining the purity and intensity of its primary aromas.
