Albert Bichot

The roots of this family of Bourgogne go back to the Middle Ages. The House was only founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie, but it was Albert Bichot, the House's current name, that moved it permanently to Beaune in 1912, in the heart of Bourgogne, not far from the prestigious walls of Hospices de Beaune, where the highly renowned Auction Sales take place every year.

The house currently owns the Domaines de Long-Depaquit en Chablis (65 hectares), du Clos-Frantin en Nuits-Saint-Georges (7.3 hectares), as Château-Gris (3.5 hectares), du Pavillon in Pommard and a few others but not classified as Grand or Premier Cru which our house, true to its Charter, has not retained in its list of Bourgogne wines.

After careful vineyard management, shared with our winegrower suppliers, and meticulous harvesting, the wines are aged in barrels for 12 to 18 months. These barrels are of different origin (Tronçais, Allier...), age and toast, and are used according to their specificities to age the wine in an optimal way. It's an art that only the descendants of these old Burgundian families know, and which they pass on to each other as a precious heritage.

Albert Bichot is not only a personal wine heritage, but also a heritage of close relationships with Burgundian winegrower-deliverers. It's also a heritage of know-how handed down over many centuries. It's a diversity that compels admiration.

Description Albert Bichot Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru "Champ Gain" 2018.

With Chassagne-Montrachet to the south and Meursault to the north, Puligny is one of those great terroirs of Côte de Beaune, in Bourgogne, that provide some of the world's finest white wines,

The Champ Gain climat extends over long parcels close to the Hameau de Blagny area and below the lieu-dit La Garenne.

Its name comes from Old French and means "plowable, cultivable land, where one can earn".

The year 2018, after two difficult vintages, can be considered a perfect vintage that combines quality and quantity.

After an arRosé winter, spring and summer were Secs, but fortunately sprinkled with welcome showers. As a result, the harvest produced grapes of great ripeness and perfect health.

The wines develop aromas of Secs fruit, almonds, apricot and hawthorn, complemented by fresh menthol notes.

The palate is supple and structured, laid on vanilla, chocolate, apple and bitter orange. It is harmonious, balanced and leads to a clean, refreshing finish.

The finesse and simplicity, typical of this climate, will cut through the generosity of blue-veined cheeses or even accompany fine fish in beurre blanc sauce.
