- +

Château Pontet-Canet was acquired by Jean-François de Pontet in 1725 who gave its name to the Canet lands.

This vineyard, whose soil is composed of quaternary gravel, is a fifth Grand Cru classified Pauillac from the 1855 prestigious list.

The vineyard spreads on about 80 hectares of an average age of 45 years on a gravelly soil and production amounts to 333 barrels per year depending on the vintages, that is to say 400.000 bottles for an average yield per hectare of 3.750 litres.

Grape varieties : Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot Noir 33 %, Cabernet Franc 5% et Petit Verdot 2%.

The whole harvest is done by hand and the wine is matured entirely in barrels, of which 60% in new barrels, for 15 to 20 months depending on the year, before being bottled.
