5th Classified Growth in 1855

Born under the best auspices of a great year, very sunny, with alternating rain between veraison and harvest.

The bloom was very fine, transparent, with an exceptional quality of flesh.

This fifth Grand Cru Classé was born in a vintage that is at the top of the quality of the greatest vintages.

The dress is very deep purple.

On the nose and on the palate: small black fruits such as morello cherry, blackberry, with touches of slightly minty dark chocolate with a harmonious finish on sandalwood and violet.

The flavors: nice spicy notes, liquorice with a toasted vanilla finish. The tannins are fine and precise, elegantly chiseled and the palate is full, round and silky.

A wine for laying down, the qualitative evolution of which will stop increasing around 2035-2045 with its peak being maintained for another 10 years.

Bottled wine will continue to improve, the bottle lying down protected from light and noise with an optimum humidity of 70%. It is a wine to be served without reserve for many years.

Size : 750ml

The Cantemerle House, whose origins date back to the 13th century, is located right to the doors of the Médoc region, in the middle of a clearing. It was built on the site of an old fortress of which were kept a few vestiges, most notably a tower from the 16th century.

This wine is a fifth Grand Cru classified Haut-Médoc from the 1855 prestigious list.

The vineyard spreads on about 190 hectares on a gravelly soil on the banks of the Garonne.

Grape varieties : Cabernet Sauvignon : 30 %, Merlot Noir : 50%, Cabernet Franc : 18% et Petit Verdot : 2%

The whole harvest is done by hand and the production amounts to 500 barrels which is 600.000 bottles per year.

The wine is entirely matured in barrels of which 50% are new for 16 months.
