Château Palmer

It is often said that anyone who has tasted Château Palmer at least once will remember it for the rest of their life. Without pretension, this may be true as it is a very nice name of Margaux. The Château will begin to make the news when in 1814 when Colonel Charles Palmer buys it from Marie de Gascq, in which he will invest significant sums.

The Château Palmer will get the title of Third Grand Cru Classé during the classification of 1855 for the World Fair in Paris. It was not until the following year that Château was built as we know it today, in a neo-renaissance style, under the aegis of the Péreire brothers. Today, Domaine is owned equally by the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families, who have continued to increase its notoriety.

The vineyard reaches an area of 55 hectares, planted to 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. The vineyards are entirely managed according to the principles of Biodynamics since 2014. The wines are aged for 20 to 22 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new wood.

One Second wine is produced by the property, Alter Ego de Palmer.

The Château Palmer is known for the finesse and elegance of the wines it offers. Wines that are a true invitation to the pleasure of the senses.

Description Alter Ego de Palmer 2019.

The wine boasts a magnificent garnet-red, almost black color, bright and brilliant with violet highlights. The nose subtly reveals notes of blackberry and blueberry jam, as well as vanilla. Floral notes of iris bring lightness to the whole. On the palate, it reveals all its power. The attack is frank and full-bodied. The body is structured around chiselled, very silky tannins. A slight tension is felt towards the end of the tasting, giving a pleasant sensation of freshness on the finish.
