The Château Croizet-Bages is located in the hamlet of Bages in the town of Pauillac, in the heart of the Medoc. It was founded in the 17th century by the Croizet brothers.
The Château Croizet-Bages will be named Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification for the Paris World's Fair.
Since 1942, it has belonged to the Quié family, and today it is Anne-Françoise and Jean-Philippe Quié who govern it with a family passion that has remained intact.
The Château Croizet-Bages watches over a 26-hectare vineyard planted on deep gravel and gravelly sand soils, including 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The wines are aged for 18 including 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood ranging from 50 to 55%.
The property produces a Second wine, Alias to Croizet-Bages.
The Château Croizet-Bages offers generous, fleshy and concentrated wines, where the purity of the fruit blends harmoniously with the tannins and spices, the hallmark of great wines from Pauillac.
With its pretty, brilliant purple color and purplish highlights, this wine has a very charming nose. Subtle blackcurrant and blueberry aromas mingle with a hint of floral notes. Tints of blond tobacco emerge after aeration, adding depth. The attack envelops us in a gentle warmth, followed by a slight tension that holds through to the relatively fresh finish. A fine tannic structure supports the whole. The fruit found on the nose is fully expressed, leaving a persistent aroma on the finish.
