Vineyards have been growing around the Chateau de Camensac, a magnificent 18th century Chartreuse, for several centuries.
Previously called Château Camensac, this Château is a fifth Grand Cru Classé Pauillac of the prestigious 1855 list.
The vineyard covers 75 hectares of deeply drained gravelly slopes.
Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon: 60% and Merlot Noir: 40%
All the grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged in its entirety for 16 to 20 months in barrels, the proportion of new barrels of which varies between 35 and 80% depending on the vintage.
It boasts a superb, brilliant, limpid garnet color. On the first nose, scents of ripe, almost jammy black fruit appear, then come depth thanks to notes of tonka bean and sweet spices. The palate is delicious, with a clean attack and full body. The finesse of the tannic structure and subtle tension bring balance and refinement. Aromatically, the fruit expresses itself with intensity and harmonizes magnificently with a well-worked woody side. The finish is greedy and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate.
