1st Classified Growth of Sauternes in 1855

- +

The 2003 vintage in Sauternes was marked by low rainfall and high temperatures during the summer. These conditions favored an excellent ripening process of the grapes. The noble rot settled down very quickly and in a homogeneous way on the vineyard of Château La Tour Blanche for a beginning of harvest on September 15th. The grapes showed an exceptional quality and high concentrations never encountered for more than 50 years.

Blend of the 2003 vintage: Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc.

The robe is a magnificent deep golden color with brilliant reflections.

The nose is a real peacock's tail, with aromas of candied fruits, roasted pineapple, honey and brioche. Notes of spices bring a nice freshness.

On the palate, it delivers a smooth, rich and ample texture with notes of candied apricot, raisins and cinnamon. Meticulous in its construction, it evolves without heaviness until a long, complex and elegant finish. A wonderfully evolved Sauternes.

Food and wine pairing:

Château La Tour Blanche 2003 can be enjoyed wonderfully with foie gras, meat dishes such as Bresse poultry with cream and morels or roast duck with peaches and spices. Try it also on snacked scallops, lobster with a mango sauce or a shrimp curry with coconut milk.

It will taste very well with blue-veined cheeses, such as Auvergne blue, Bresse blue, Fourme d'Ambert or Roquefort.

For dessert, enjoy it with lemon meringue pie, orange carpaccio or saffron rice pudding.

Ageing potential and tasting:

Château Suduiraut 2003 has now 20 years of evolution, but can still wait another decade in the cellar without problems. A great potential of ageing is indeed the characteristic of the great Sauternes.

Its extreme finesse makes it ready to drink now. To do this, take care to open the bottle 3 to 4 hours before tasting.

The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from the light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
