The 2018 vintage is a very successful one in Bordeaux, marked by several climatic acts. The spring was rather constraining for the technical teams in the vineyard, but the summer proved to be magnificently sunny. The exceptional conditions of August and then the after-season made it possible to harvest red grapes that were particularly rich in sugar and with a high aromatic potential.

Blend of the 2018 vintage: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot

The robe presents a magnificent deep purple color, adorned with brilliant garnet highlights.

The nose is a harmony between power and finesse, offering beautiful notes of red fruits, raspberry and cherry, menthol, violet and white pepper.

The mouth is silky, voluminous and offers a delicate touch. Releasing greedy flavors of black cherry, spice and roast, it is carried by very fine tannins, to a fleshy finish with great freshness.

Food and wine pairing:

Château Léoville Barton 2018 will go wonderfully with a matured rib of beef cooked on vine shoots from the Médoc, a lamb mouse confit with garlic, a shoulder of wild boar roasted in cider or a stuffed turkey.
For a pairing with cheeses, favor those with uncooked pressed paste: Cantal, Edam, aged mimolette, morbier with truffles or Saint-Nectaire.

For desserts, enjoy it with a milk chocolate and hazelnut dessert, a chocolate ganache or an extra hazelnut tart.

Ageing potential and tasting:
Château Léoville Barton 2018 has a great ageing potential, and will reach its peak between 2035 and 2040.

2018 is a vintage of good drinkability, and for this reason, it can be enjoyed beautifully now. To do so, take care to place the bottle in the serving room at room temperature the night before. Open it and decant it at least 6 to 7 hours before tasting.

The bottles will be kept in the cellar, protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
