The Saint-Julien appellation came out with all the honors for this 2017 vintage, where the beginning of the year was initially constraining. But the rest of the viticultural season presented a hot and dry summer, then a magnificent month of September that allowed the vines to give a grape at perfect maturity, concentrated in aromas and color.

Blend of the 2017 vintage : 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot

The robe presents a magnificent deep red color, with beautiful garnet reflections.

The nose plays on seduction, with a bouquet of very ripe forest fruits, blackcurrant and blueberry, enhanced by roasted cocoa, pepper and truffle.

A real olfactory pleasure that continues in the mouth, with a supple and elegant attack revealing a dense, juicy and fleshy body. The tannins coat flavors of currant, blackberry and dark chocolate. Precise and concentrated, it melts into a long, lingering finish.

Food and wine pairing:

Château Léoville Barton 2017 can sublimely pair with beef tenderloin with onions and foie gras sauce, duck breast with pinot noir sauce, pan-fried veal kidneys with mustard, or veal chops with garlic clove.

For a pairing with cheeses, choose uncooked pressed cheeses: Cantal, Edam, aged mimolette, morbier with truffles or Saint-Nectaire.

In desserts, it will be particularly appreciated with a chocolate ganache, a tiramisu but also with a pear-caramel dessert.

Ageing potential and tasting:
Château Léoville Barton 2017 will keep for a long time and will reach its peak between 2032 and 2035.

However, it can be enjoyed beautifully now. To do so, take care to place the bottle in the serving room at room temperature the night before. Open it and decant it at least 6 to 7 hours before tasting.

The bottles will be kept in the cellar, protected from light, lying down, with an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
