5th Grand Cru Classé in 1855
Elaborated by Grand-Puy-Lacoste - View other products
The 2012 vintage was mainly characterized by a hot and very dry summer, which followed a cool and very wet spring. From August onwards, the weather conditions stabilized and allowed the grapes to follow a good maturation process. The harvest, carried out in a serene way, is very selective so that only the most qualitative grapes are kept.
Blend of the 2012 vintage : 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot
The robe is still a beautiful dark color, tinged with slightly tile-like and brilliant reflections.
The nose reveals powerful aromas of wild berries, blackcurrant and menthol, which give way to peppery spices and an elegant toasted woodiness.
On the palate, the attack is frank, the tannins rise very quickly and are beautifully constructed, making the wine rise crescendo in power. With its fruit and roasted notes, it stretches out for a long time until a fleshy and persistent finish. A great wine from Pauillac, magnificently constructed.
Food and wine pairing :
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2012 will accompany beef tenderloin, roasted pigeon, stuffed turkey as well as all types of small game such as wild rabbit or hare stew.
The cheeses to choose are those pressed uncooked: Edam, Gouda, Saint-nectaire or Salers.
For dessert, enjoy it with a chocolate dessert: tiramisu, Ganache montée or entremet.
Ageing potential and tasting :
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2012 is a great Pauillac that can wait another 5 to 6 years in the cellar to reach its peak. However, it can be enjoyed today, if opened and decanted 3 to 4 hours before tasting, at room temperature.
Do not hesitate to proceed to successive tastings to measure the evolution of the wine and its qualitative peak.
The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
