Château Marquis de Terme

Château Marquis de Terme

The Château Marquis de Terme is a very nice reference of the great wines of Margaux, renowned for its fruit and finesse. It was in 1762 that the Marquis de Terme gave his name to this property, which he received by marriage as a dowry from his wife. Thomas Jefferson, U.S. ambassador to France, praised it in his travel notes in 1787, ranking it among his favorites.

The Château Marquis de Terme was awarded the title of Fourth Grand Cru Classé in the prestigious 1855 classification, edited for the Paris World's Fair. The property has belonged to the Sénéclauze family since 1935, who still today contribute to its qualitative development: respect for the environment, parcel management and tailor-made vinification allow the Extraordinary potential of its terroir to be revealed.

The vineyard covers an area of 39 hectares of vines, planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It is located on gravel soils with deep clay in some places. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

One Second wine is produced by the property, La Couronne de Marquis de Terme.

Château Marquis de Terme is known for the splendor and deliciousness of its wines, which offer a beautiful expression of the terroir of Margaux and stand out their seductive side.

Description Château Marquis de Terme 2015 Magnum.

Nature graced the Bordeaux vineyards with a very fine vintage in 2015. The climatic conditions were ideal throughout the vine cycle in the Margaux appellation. Flowering, veraison and ripening benefited each time from a privileged climate. The harvest was carried out serenely with berries of excellent oenological quality.

Blend of the 2015 vintage: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.

The robe is a dark red color, with elegant garnet tinted reflections.

The nose reveals a beautiful purity of fruit, with notes of black cherry, raspberry and black currant, enhanced by pepper and cocoa.

The attack is supple, giving way to a silky and dense body carried by elegant tannins. Evolving with precision on greedy flavors of red berries and spices, it rises crescendo in volume and freshness. It blooms on a long, fruity and persistent finish. A Margaux wine of great finesse.

Food and wine pairing:

Château Marquis de Terme 2015 in magnum will pair deliciously with a Châteaubriand with truffle sauce, a famous roast chicken, duck breast with Pinot Noir sauce, venison hazelnuts or veal grenadin with morel sauce.

For a pairing with cheese, prefer pressed and uncooked cheeses: cantal, old mimolette, morbier, saint-nectaire and tomme de Savoie. It can also be enjoyed with Brie de Meaux, Gouda or Salers.

For dessert, it will be particularly exquisite with a raspberry and chocolate charlotte, Ricardo Larrivée's chocolate cake or a praline entremet.

Cellaring potential and tasting:

Château Marquis de Terme 2015 in magnum can wait another 15 years in the cellar, reaching its peak between 2038 and 2040. Indeed, the large capacity of the format gives the wine a greater potential for aging.

However, it can be enjoyed today if properly prepared. To do so, make sure to place the bottle in the serving room at room temperature the night before and open it. If not, open and decant the bottle ideally 6 to 7 hours before the tasting.

The bottles will be kept in the cellar, protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
