Château Soutard

Superbly located near the village of Saint-Emilion, the Château Soutard asserts its splendor both by its beautiful building and the unforgettable quality of its wines. Its origins go back to 1513, it was then located on the Bourdieu of Mayne de Soutard, Bourdieu designating a Domaine gascon around a farm and a mill. It is in the XIXth century that it knew a real development under the impulse of Jean Lavau, notable owner of Saint-Emilion. Since 2006, the Château belongs to AG2R La Mondiale. New state-of-the-art technical facilities have been installed, including a magnificent cellar, and wine tourism has been wonderfully developed. Today, Château Soutard welcomes visitors from all over the world, who are delighted by this exceptional place.

The Château Soutard is now a Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Emilion classification.

The Château Soutard watches over a 30-hectare (86-acre) vineyard implanted on the magnificent limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion. Some of the vines are located on clay slopes and on a sandy hillside. The grape varieties are 63% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 7%... See more ...

Description Château Soutard 2018.

The 2018 vintage is a great winemaking success in Bordeaux, especially for the great red wines of the right bank such as Château Soutard. Thanks to a hot and dry summer that preceded a beautiful back season until harvest, the grapes will have enjoyed perfect conditions to ripen properly, and be concentrated in aromatics, tannins and color.

Vintage 2018 blend: 61% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Malbec.

The color is deep, almost black, presenting a beautiful purple glow.

The nose is fine and distinguished, offering scents of black cherry, cassis, raspberry and violet, as well as a touch of pepper and cardamom.

The attack is caressing, the wine is fleshy and structured thanks to an elegant tannic structure. It delivers flavors of red fruits and spices, evolving in depth and greediness to a long and fresh finish. A sublime nectar of Saint-Emilion.

Food and wine pairing:

Château Soutard 2018 will pair wonderfully with a piece of beef sautéed with aromatics, pork tenderloin with Port, veal mignon with truffles, rack of lamb confit or even tuna tataki with sesame.

To pair with cheese, choose uncooked pressed cheeses: Edam, Gouda, Saint-nectaire, Morbier or Salers.

For dessert, enjoy it with a chocolate, gianduja and blackberry dessert, a Grand Cru chocolate tartlet or a tiramisu.

Cellaring potential and tasting:

Château Soutard 2018 is a great wine with a nice aging potential, which can wait in the cellar for several years before reaching its peak between 2030 and 2035.

However, it can be fully appreciated today because 2018 has a very good drinkability. To do this, take care to open and decant the bottle ideally 3 to 4 hours before tasting, at a room temperature of between 15 and 18°C.

The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
