Château La Conseillante
The Château La Conseillante is among the elite of the greatest wines of Pomerol, leaving no wine lover indifferent. It was Catherine Conseillan who in 1735 decided to give her name to this already famous Domaine, whose neighbors were no less famous Châteaux such as Evangile, Pétrus and Cheval Blanc. In 1871, the property was acquired by the Nicolas family and today, Jean-Valmy Bertrand Nicolas represent the fifth generation to produce a great wine whose reputation has crossed borders.
The Château La Conseillante is based on a vineyard of 12 hectares of vines planted on soils of gray clay and sandy gravel with a subsoil of red clay due to the presence of iron dross, conferring a unique singularity to the wines.
The grape variety is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for an average of 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 50 to 70% are new. 3% of the production is aged in amphorae.
The property produces a Second wine, Duo de La Conseillante, which offers another side of this exceptional terroir.
The Château La Conseillante delivers quite exceptional wines, known for being silky, elegant and balanced in power, marked by a finesse and mineral touch not found elsewhere.

Description Château La Conseillante 2014.
The 2014 vintage is particularly successful in Bordeaux. The flowering of the vines took place in a homogeneous way thanks to a beautiful month of May, and the summer that followed turned out to be quite cool. The months of September and October, on the other hand, will be very beautiful and warm, marked by thunderstorms at the beginning and then by a dry period accompanied by a north wind which will concentrate the berries in tannins, aromas and color.
Blend of the 2014 vintage: 78% Merlot, 22% Cabernet franc.
The robe offers a dark red color with brilliant garnet highlights slightly tiled.
The nose is seductive and concentrates notes of small black fruits, cherry, grilled almonds, truffle and violet. What an olfactory harmony.
Introduced in the mouth, it offers a creamy texture mixed with firm and silky tannins, with great depth and aromatic complexity. Juicy blackberry, black currant and pepper flavors are perceived. A long, lingering finish marks that wonderfully structured style of the best Pomerols.
Food and wine pairing:
Chateau La Conseillante 2014 would be great with beef pavé with foie gras and porcini mushrooms, veal knuckle in ham crumbs with sesame seed infused jus, truffled venison pavé, or snacked pluma of Pata Negra pork.
For a pairing with cheese, choose uncooked pressed cheeses: Edam, Gouda, Saint-nectaire, morbier, Tomme de Savoie or Salers.
For dessert, finish it off with a crispy coffee tart, Christophe Felder's Cappucino cake or a Grand Cru chocolate mousse.
Cellaring potential and tasting:
Chateau La Conseillante 2014 has tremendous cellaring potential, still able to wait in the cellar to refine. It can be enjoyed without problems until 2040.
However, it can be enjoyed wonderfully now. To do so, take care to place the bottle the night before in the serving room at a room temperature between 15 and 18°C. Ideally, open the bottle and decant it 6 to 7 hours before tasting.
The bottles should be kept in the cellar in a dark place, lying down, with an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
