Château Pontet-Canet

Château Pontet-Canet

Perched on the heights of the Pauillac appellation, Château Pontet-Canet is one of the Médoc's most essential crus. Its founder, Jean-François de Pontet, esquire to the king and governor of the Médoc, acquired it in 1725, and a few years later his heirs bought the neighboring land at Canet: thus was born Château Pontet-Canet.

Le Domaine was awarded the title of Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 wine classification officialized for the Paris Universal Exhibition. A decade later, it was acquired by Herman Cruse, a Bordeaux merchant of Danish origin, and underwent a complete renovation.

This makes Domaine a forerunner and benchmark in the world of Bordeaux Grands Crus Classés. It was certified by the Biodyvin and Ecocert labels in 2010, then by the Demeter label in... See more ...

Description Château Pontet-Canet 1982.

Bearing a magnificent ruby-red color with tiled highlights, the Château Pontet Canet 1982 has a complex, bewitching nose. Notes of jammy blackcurrant, blackberry and plum brandy mingle. There are also hints of baking and a light woodiness. On the palate, it offers a harmonious structure underpinned by racy, velvety-textured tannins. With finesse and elegance, its fruity flavors carry us through to the relatively fresh finish. Although already quite old, it can be kept for several more years.
