The construction of Château Coutet dates back to the end of the 13th century as illustrated by its tower of design similar to those of the military constructions of the English occupation in Guyenne.

It is a Premier Cru Classé according to the prestigious list of 1855.

It is a Sauternes-Barsac whose average age of the vineyard is 40 years and whose grape variety is distributed as follows: Sémillon 75%, Sauvignon 23% and Muscadelle 2%. Its soils vary between reddish clay soil interspersed with gravel fine and aeolian sands resting on a limestone subsoil.

The entire vineyard covers around forty hectares for a production of around 50 barrels, or around 60,000 bottles.

All the harvest is manual and the wine is aged entirely in new barrels for about 18 months before bottling.
