Château de Fieuzal is located in Léognan about fifteen kilometers from Bordeaux, admirably placed on the highest ridges and the best exposed on the right bank of the white water stream.
Having belonged to one of the oldest families in France, we find its existence in the 17th century. Despite its abandonment during the revolution, this vineyard was reborn at the end of the 1st Empire and its reputation will continue to grow to this day.
The area of the vines covers approximately 48 hectares and has the particularity of being planted in red on 42 hectares and in white on 6 hectares on soils composed of gravel and subsoils of gravel facilitating drainage and with pockets. of clay.
Grape variety: for the red: Cabernet Sauvignon 48%, Merlot Noir 47%, Cabernet franc 3%, Petit Verdot 1%; for the white: Sauvignon 71% Semillon 25%, Muscadelle 4%
All the harvest is manual and all is aged in barrels in the proportion of 33% in new barrels for the red and 50% for the white.
The annual production is 167 barrels for the red, or around 200,000 bottles, and 22 barrels, or around 25,000 bottles. These are wines that reach their peak 8 to 10 years for the whites and 10 to 15 years for the reds.
