Château Gruaud-Larose, who belonged to the Gruaud family since 1725 then to the related Larose family, is located at the peak of Saint Julien, on hillcrests of deep Garonne gravel.
This wine is a second Grand Cru classified Saint Julien from the 1855 prestigious list.
The vineyard spreads on about 82 hectares of an average age of 45 years and production amounts to 460 barrels per year depending on the vintages, that is to say 550.000 bottles for an average yield per hectare of 4.500 to 5.000 litres.
Grape varieties : Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot Noir 31 %, Cabernet Franc 5%, Petit Verdot 3% et Malbec 1%
The whole harvest is done by hand and the wine is matured entirely in barrels, of which a third in new barrels, for 16 to 18 months depending on the year, before being bottled.
