Château Pédesclaux

Château Pédesclaux

It's impossible to remain indifferent to the modest but oh-so-modern building of Château Pédesclaux or its superb winery, right in the heart of the Pauillac vineyard. Founded in the 19th century by Pierre Pédesclaux, Château was named Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification for the Paris Universal Exhibition.

A 180° turnaround came for the estate in 2009 when it was bought by the Lorenzetti family, who restructured the vineyard and began converting to organic farming some ten years later. Today, some parcels are also farmed biodynamically. Another highlight will be the inauguration of a 100% gravity-fed winery in 2014, designed to produce the most refined wine possible.

The Château Pédesclaux looks after a 50-hectare vineyard located on deep gravel soils with occasional clay and limestone. The grape varieties are 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The wines are aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.

The estate produces a Second wine, Fleur de Pédesclaux.

The wines of Château Pédesclaux are renowned for their beautiful structure, elegant tannic structure and refinement, where the purity of the fruit expresses itself with opulence.
