Château Mouton Rothschild

The Château Mouton Rothschild is known to all wine lovers, not only for its exceptional wines but also for its labels signed by artists since the 1945 vintage.

The story of Mouton Rothschild began in 1853, when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Château Brane-Mouton from Pauillac, renaming it Mouton-Rothschild. In 1922, his great-grandson Philippe de Rothschild took over the reins for the next 65 years, and it was he who raised Mouton Rothschild to the pinnacle of its glory thanks to his determination and doggedness. A quest for excellence pursued by his daughter, Baroness Philippine.

By an official decree issued in 1973 by Jacques Chirac, Minister of Agriculture at the time, Château Mouton Rothschild would be declared the fifth Ier Grand Cru Classé, alongside Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Haut-Brion, Château Latour and Château Margaux.

Description Château Mouton Rothschild 2015.

It is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

The color is a nice dark and sustained color with purple reflections.

The delicate and elegant nose reveals fruity aromas of wild blackberry and blueberry, then notes of toast, liquorice and blond tobacco complete this rich and complex aromatic palette.

The fresh, fleshy and saline attack is very intense. It opens with velvety and creamy tannins enveloped in a silky texture enhanced with a touch of minerality.

The impression on the palate is very full, rich in aromas of ripe fruit and peppery spices. The exceptional length of the finish concludes a tasting of remarkable balance.

The illustration of the 2015 vintage was entrusted to the German Gerhard Richter, born in 1932, a prodigious inventor of pictorial forms and techniques. He is the result of a haphazard yet cleverly crafted process that he calls Flux.

The artist fixes moving colors in photographs, captured at the ideal moment of their composition: likewise, a harmonious blend gives great wine, living matter, its balance and fullness.
