The story of Mouton Rothschild began in 1853, when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Château Brane-Mouton from Pauillac, renaming it Mouton-Rothschild. Description Château Mouton-Rothschild 2001.

The first quarter of 2001 was warmer and wetter than average, causing early bud break, six to eight days ahead of the 30-year average.

It is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

Label illustration: Robert Wilson (1941).

Slightly evolved garnet red color with lively and brilliant reflections.

The nose is complex, rich in aromas of ripe blueberry and blackcurrant fruits, with some pleasantly smoky notes, of leather and an animal touch.

The palate is structured and fresh, supported by well coated tannins and good aromatic density, with very fruity notes.

The finish is progressive and elegant with a lingering taste on the sensation of freshness, revealing the excellent potential of this vintage.
