It is on the highest part of the famous Pomerol plateau that Château Hosanna is located.
His vineyard, which is bordered on the east by Château Pétrus and on the north by Château Lafleur, extends over about 5 hectares with gravelly soil and silico-clay subsoil on a bed of iron dross. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The total production on average is about 15 barrels or about 18,000 bottles only per year.
Varietals: 75% Merlot Noir and Cabernet Franc for 25%
All the grapes are harvested by hand and the wine, each year, is aged in new barrels for 30% then bottled after 18 months.
A highly reputed wine of the appellation, Château Hosanna 2005 presents itself to us with a generous and powerful nose.
Ripe fruits such as cherry, plum but also blackberry emerge.
Notes of mocha as well as truffle are also present and bring great complexity to the whole.
On the palate, we find the characteristics of the great Pomerol: power, density as well as fine, velvety tannins, almost enveloping.
The tasting ends on an incredibly long finish, leaving us with a delicious note of black fruit on the palate.
