The Brane-Cantenac House, which belonged to the Baron of Brane since 1833, acquired its definitive name of Brane-Cantenac in 1838.
This wine is a second Grand Cru classified Margaux from the 1855 prestigious list.
The vineyard spreads on about 85 hectares of an average age of 30 years on a gravelly soil and production amounts to 380 barrels per year depending on the vintages, that is to say 455.000 bottles for an average yield per hectare of 5.000 litres.
Grape varieties : Cabernet Sauvignon 65%, Merlot Noir 30 %, Cabernet Franc 5%.
The whole harvest is done by hand with crates and the wine is matured entirely in barrels, of which 60% in new barrels, for 18 to 20 months depending on the year, before being bottled.
