The vineyard is exceptional, with a ridge that faces Château Margaux and looks out over the estuary, made up of Pyrenean Güntzian gravel in three horizons, 30 cm of sandy gravel at the surface, then 30 cm of clay gravel seated on new sandy gravel. Perfect potential for regular nourishment of the vines and ideal drainage.

Vintage : 2010

Best known under the name of Château de Gascq, the owner’s name, this estate was very well-known under Louis 13 and in Louis XV’s court. In 1814, Charles Palmer fell for Jeanne de Gascq, the owner, but also for the estate and its vineyard, giving it its current name. The Castle in itself was rebuilt in 1856.

This vineyard, which lays on a Garonne gravelly soil, is a third Grand Cru classified from the 1855 prestigious list.

The vineyard spreads on about 52 hectares of an average age of 40 years and production amounts to 200 barrels per year depending on the vintages, that is to say 240.000 bottles for an average yield per hectare of 3.4 to 3.500 litres.

Grape varieties : Cabernet Sauvignon 47%, Merlot Noir 47% et Petit Verdot 6%.

The whole harvest is done by hand and the wine is matured entirely in barrels, of which 40% in new barrels, for 18 to 24 months depending on the year, before being bottled.
